Russia federation towers – A structural glazing façade at the highest stage of energy saving
Werner Wagner, Sika Services AG
In the drilling sector, Bavelloni currently offers a wide range of different solutions, including two numerically controlled vertical machines: VT 1601 NC and VT 1302 NC.
These two machines feature a useful drilling field of 1600x2600 mm, making them the ideal solution for processing glass and mirrors to be used in the interior decorating sector.
The experience we gained with these two machines has clearly underscored the benefits of using vertical drills: reduced floor space used, easy to handle and move glass during processing, cooling water contained, risk of damage to glass reduced to minimum.
This is why Bavelloni has decided to expand its range of vertical drills with two new models able to process much larger sized sheets and, therefore, able to operate successfully in the construction glass sector.
The new VT 2501 NC and VT 2202 NC models retain many of the features found in existing models, but they also boast a number of interesting new features.
Increased Work Area
The new drills' maximum drilling field is 2500x4500 mm. For the two-headed model, it must
be remembered that the drilling field for the second head is limited to 2200x4500 mm.
It is clear that such large dimensions cover practically every possible need.
Glass Conveyance
System
Compared to existing models, the new drills are equipped
with a fully automatic glass handling system along the horizontal axis, consisting of a series
of motorised rollers.
This system offers the advantage of allowing you to couple the drill with other vertical machines.
It is possible, therefore, to put a vertical washing unit on the line, or a series of drills, etc.
Applications
As we have said, the two new models stand out for their large drilling field, enabling them to
meet the demands of the construction sector. In building glass structures, glass sheets are often
used which must be drilled and countersunk so that metal anchoring parts can be used. The new drills
are perfectly suited to this type of work, thanks to a number of technical features.
Easy to move and handle sheets
The machine operator needs only to load the
sheet onto the inlet arm, and the drills' vertical layout makes this very easy. Once loaded,
the sheet is automatically processed by the machine, so no manual operation is needed.
As a vertical washing unit can be connected to the line, this allows you to complete the entire
drilling line.
Extreme precision
Our range of vertical drills is distinguished by their
extremely precise positioning. The use of high quality handling systems (ball
guides and screws, brushless motors, etc.) allows you to obtain tight drilling tolerances: 0.3
mm.
Countersinking possible
Obviously there is the possibility of using
countersinking rings coupled to the drilling tools, in order to drill and countersink
simultaneously. In cases where you need deeper countersinking (and this is usually the
case with the most widely used anchoring systems for glass surfaces), the best choice would be
the two-headed model: here, normal drilling tools are used on the first head to drill
the hole, while a countersinking cone, able to remove large quantities of glass, is used on
the second head.
