  • Sustainability Miracle:
    The Plus-Energy Home

Plus-Energy houses generate more energy than they consume – even with a German climate. This innovative and future-proof way of building was developed by students at the Technical University of Darmstadt guided by Prof. Manfred Hegger and endowed with research funds by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Construction and Urban Development (BMVBS). At present, the Plus-Energy Home is touring major German cities as part of a travelling exhibition. After stops in Munich, Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt it will also be on display in Düsseldorf during glasstec.

  • Also worth a visit: Kunstsammlung NRW
    Re-opened after rebuilding

In early July the time had come round: after two years of rebuilding the art collection on Grabbeplatz (refurbished and extended by 2,000 m²) was re-opened. Also dubbed as the “secret national gallery” occasionally, the K20 is doubtlessly one of the most important collections of modern art in Germany. During glasstec you can visit a Beuys Retrospective entitled “Parallel Processes” at the Schmela-Haus.
