Edgetech I.G. to Present at GPD Finland

May 28, 2009

This year’s Glass Performance Days (GPD) Finland, to be held June 12-15 in Tampere, will focus on the role glass plays in energy management. Edgetech I.G., manufacturer of the Super Spacer® warm edge spacer system and related fenestration products, will take part in the dynamic conference with a presentation titled ‘Challenges of Bent Insulating,’ presented by product manager, Joe Erb, on June 15.

Bent glass is formed by applying heat and forming glass over a curved mold. According to Erb, architects are using bent IG more often to provide a unique design element, while maintaining energy efficiency.

“At the GPD Finland session, we will discuss opportunities and challenges with bent IG and best practices to ensure optimal energy efficiency, sustainability and manufacturing efficiency,” Erb said.

Erb has 15 years of experience in the fenestration market and is actively involved with industry associations, including GANA, IGMA and IGCC. He is the current chairman of the Insulating Glass Certification Committee (IGCC) and ex afficio member of the board. He has written numerous articles for Glass Magazine and has been making presentations globally for more than eight years. His current role as product manager for Edgetech includes the responsibility of increasing the use of high-performance warm edge glazing in the commercial market.

GPD is organized bi-annually and is considered the largest international glass conference with several workshops, glass product exhibition and versatile social activities. For more information on GPD and this year’s programs visit www.gpd.fi
