Rudolf Hess received his civil engineering degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich ETHZ in the field of construction of water power station. The PhD was reiceived from the same school in the field of glass constructions. After many years in practice in various fields of civil engineering including in the USA and teaching at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich at the departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering the company Glasconsult was founded, an establishment which deals with structural analyses of glass constructions.
