Frank Ensslen, born 1971, received his civil engineering degree from Darmstadt University of Technology in 1998, after priorly preparing his diploma thesis at Northwestern University, Evanston (USA). From 1999 until 2005 he worked as a research assistant at the Structural Testing Laboratory of Ruhr-University Bochum, where he also received his doctorate. In October 2005 he started to work for the technical advisory service of the middle-sized glass processor Semcoglas Holding GmbH.
