Pr D. Lochegnies is a specialist of numerical modelling of glass forming and tempering. Since 90's, he is managing an academic research team in the University of Valenciennes in this area and is the chairman of the International Conference on Modelling of Glass Forming and Tempering Processes (1rst Edition in 1998 in Valenciennes, 2nd in January 2002). The research activities concern:
* the developments of numerical methods and models for glass forming (including viscosity laws, thermal exchanges with ambient air and forming tools, contact conditions, remeshing, residual stresses),
* their integration and validation in analysis strategies of industrial processes (by coupling with C.A.D. and Metrology),
* the development of optimization procedures with inverse methods for the identification of material properties (viscosity, thermal resistance) and the determination of optimum process parameters (temperature, tool kinematic laws, tool geometries, cooling and heating systems...).
The industrial domains are Flat Glass Forming (Creep forming, Pressing, Blowing, Bending), Hollow Glass Forming (Press-and-Blow, Blow-and-Blow, Centrifuging), Glass Tempering. The industrial partners are manufacturers of products and machinery in Architectural and Transportation sectors, in Tableware, Packaging, Medical Appliance, T.V., Glass components. The team has already produced more than 40 papers in International Glass Revues and Conferences.
