1984-1988 BSc (Hons) Engineering Metallurgy.
1989- 1992 PhD as RA at Salford University, contract sponsored by Royal Armaments Research and Development Establishment, Fort Halstead, Kent. Subject; the use of unbalanced magnetron sputtering for the formation of novel PVD films.
1992-1994 Teer Coatings Ltd (TCL) as technical marketing manager involved in sales and marketing
of all TCL products and the formulation of research and development programs within UK and EC. 1994 Founded Gencoa Ltd (Current Position Managing Director). Gencoa is a world leader in the
manufacture of high performance magnetron sputter sources.

DPM has published over 15 scientific papers, and has made in excess of 50 presentations at international scientific conferences and holds a number of international patent based around plasma control in magnetron sputter processes.
DPM is the Past Chairman of the UK, Institute of Physics, Thin Film and Surfaces group. In 1993 DPM was awarded the C.R.Burch Prize from the British Vacuum Council for ‘outstanding research in the field of Vacuum Science and Technology’ by a young scientist.

DPM is currently co-opted onto the British Vacuum Council (BVC) and is the UK representative for Thin Film Technology for the International Union for Vacuum Science and Technology (IUVSTA).
