Yurii Rodichev

Dr. Head of the Department
G.S.Pisarenko Institute for Problems of Strength of NASU

Scientist and specialist on glass and ceramics constructional strength. Design and testing of glass and ceramics structures for different spheres of technics.

Dr. Yurii Rodichev is the Head of the Department of structural strength of non-metal brittle materials of the G.S.Pisarenko Institute for Problems of Strength of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – the leading scientific centre in the countries of the former USSR on the problems of material and structure strength under extreme operational conditions. He has over 35 years of experience in the development of scientific and technical fundamentals of the strength and fracture of high-strength glass and ceramic materials and structures for building, underwater and aerospace technology. More than 30 years his scientific works were developed in fruitful cooperation with Ukrainian building material industry State Corporation “Ukrbudmaterialy” as well as with leading glass and ceramic plants.

He is a member in Technical Committee 143 “Alarm systems” of Ukraine. Ph.D. thesis was defended in 1969. He has written monographs “Structural strength of glass and glassceramics” (1979) and “High-strength shells of silicate materials” (1989) as well as over 100 technical articles published in journals and glass industry magazines. He has also given numerous presentations at conferences and seminars. From 1999 he took part in the Glass Processing Days conferences.
