Matthias Haldimann is Research Engineer and Doctoral Candidate at the Steel Structures Laboratory (ICOM) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). He has been working on composite bridges and façade elements with internal fluid flow. His current research focus is on design and safety of structural glass elements.

He is a Delegate to the European COST Action C13 "Glass and Interactive Building Envelopes" and a member of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering IABSE.

Haldimann obtained his civil engineering degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in 2002, receiving the ETH academic awards for the best final exam and for the best diploma in civil engineering. His diploma thesis on probabilistic code calibration was awarded with the ETH Medal of Excellence.
