Stephen Byers is co-founder of Ritec International Limited and winner of awards and other recognition for innovation in the development of new technologies for surface renovation, protection and maintenance.

Ritec started in 1981 and later pioneered the global market for flat glass surface protection by introducing ClearShield® ‘Non-Stick, Low Maintenance’ Glass. Other new technologies followed for the renovation, protection and maintenance of a wide range of building materials – glass, paintwork, plastics, metals and wood.

Ritec is based in London, England, and supplies products and services through an international network of joint venture partners, distributors and licensees, with more than 85% of sales as exports. Product improvements and new developments are carried with the assistance of a network of independent consultants, universities and suppliers.

Prior to Ritec, Stephen worked more than 20 years in sales and marketing management for multi-national petrochemical companies - Monsanto Corporation, Burmah Limited and Ethyl Corporation. His responsibilities included management of salespersons, distributors and agents in North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Japan. Prior to the petrochemical industry, Stephen’s business experience included more than six years in contract negotiation and administration in the fields of nuclear energy and aerospace.

Stephen was born in the State of Texas in 1941. He holds a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from Southwest Missouri State and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Stephen moved to London in 1977 and met Karen, who later became wife and business partner. Together they lead an international team focusing on product and market development for new surface protection technologies.
