Concerning glass using, modern architecture clearly shows trends to the glazing areas expansion, number of storeys in building growth, glazing elements sizes increasing. When height of the building is increasing, especially with full glazed façades, the conditions of application, applied effects and forces are changed in compliance with considerable enlarged glazing area. Designing of the glazing for such high-rise buildings is a complicate and complex challenge. Its solving requires necessarily providing safety, optical and insulation features of the glazing in the same time. Moreover, it is important to take into consideration limitations for weight and price of glazing, possibilities of mounting during construction and maintenance of building.
In this presentation, we review climatic factors influencing to durability and performance of a glazing, which can vary with building’s height. These factors are very important and must be taken into account during design process.
