Building integrated photovoltaic with PVB film

James Huang

Even today most of the photovoltaic modules are placed as so called “standalone systems”, where alternative electricity supply will still be expensive. But during recent years the interest in demonstrating use of PV modules on buildings for local electricity production has been increased and in a lot of cases as on-grid systems by supplying excess energy into the public network (feed-in tariff system). To obtain the best possible integration and economy of the network-connected PV it is necessary to focus on the possibilities on integrating these in south, south east and south west facing facades, on roofs of buildings and other constructions. In a number of countries the development of building-integrated PV has been quick during recent years, e.g. supported by national plans or laws for implementation of PV modules in buildings. Integration of PV modules in buildings has in addition to the effect as regards energy a considerable impact on the architecture.
