After having experienced the lack of long-term stability of a first generation of electrochromic windows first introduced into the market by Flabeg, an intensive redesign has been forced resulting in a second generation of electrochromic solar control glazing. Main points of this redesign are:
1. developing a new electrolyte
2. optimizing the coating procedure
3. introducing tempered glass and
4. renovation of electronic controller hard- and software.
The new 2nd generation of the electrochromic glazing has almost passed a five years field-testing procedure without significant degradations.
