Dr. Hanaa EL Kazazz, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Applied Arts Glass section, Helwan University

This research is concerned to show traditional modern architectural Glass designs in Egypt. These designs depend on the mergence of various traditional arts like Ancient Egyptian, Coptic, Islamic and Modern Arts, which form the great Egyptian history. Egyptian traditional arts vary from place to another: in Upper Egypt it differs from north (Alexandria). Contemporary Glass Artists innovated their designs and works inspired from traditional arts. The researcher was concerned to innovate new architectural Glass designs, that by mixing some traditional arts in a special vision, which filled in Philosophy and Culture of our time. Each and every design was performed by its suitable technology e.g. (laser Engraving, Painting, Etching and Stained Glass). These designs were applied in both public and special buildings; one of them was applied in the social building in Cairo University (using Stained Glass tech.) in which the artist merged between Islamic and traditional arts in a new Contemporary vision. Also what has been applied in the VIP hall at the social club of police sports compound. In which the artist mixed some Egyptian traditional elements (horse & doll) in a manner that suits the Contemporary glass arts.
