Cyclic fatigue of glass panels

Starting point of investigations of the cyclic fatigue of glass panels was the lack of information of fatigue. Tests with cyclic loading during a pilot survey showed a significant decrease of the flexural tensile strength. An extensive test program was invented. The preliminary investigations indicate a time-dependent modulus of elasticity, which could not be expected for a linear elastic brittle material.
