Award-winning Innovations in Glazing Applications

Architects are expanding the boundaries of glass by utilizing the many attributes of laminated glass and are developing award-winning designs with this technology. The Union of Architects (UIA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) recognizes these innovative designs by awarding architects each year with an award named after the French chemist who discovered the process for laminating glass, Edouard Benedictus. In this paper we will sample multiple international designs which were honored with this AIA/UIA sponsored award over the past 10 years. Focus will be given to the designs that are changing the architectural industry's view of glass and are pioneering examples that demonstrate future trends.
