Novel process for the fast production of pyrolytic superlow-e coatings during glass production and processing

The need for low-emissivity glasses arises obviously from the need to save energy. The Window Energy Rating (WER) takes into account both the heat leakage through the window as well as the heat gain from the solar energy. Generally both hard coated low-e glasses (based on transparent conductive oxides) and soft coated superlow-e glasses (based on silver layers) fall into the same WER category. The WER calculation reveals that hard coated glasses with emissivity 0.13 or lower offers the same overall annual energy consumption than soft coated glasses. Such glasses, named as nERGYTM glass, can be produced with the novel Aerosol Based Coating (ABC) process.
