Low Cost Industrial Manufacturing of a Thin Single Layer Antireflective Surface on Sheet Glass

Göran Olsson

Industrial large size sheet glass treatment process for producing a thin single layer antireflective surface used in different types of solar energy applications. The reduction of reflection lead to a yearly energy output increase of typically 5 – 15 % depending of which type of solar energy system.

The AR-surface is produced in a special etching process working as a closed loop without any pollution or emission. Automated production for minimum handling / labor cost plus consistent properties and require low use of energy, chemicals and water.

The AR-surface is part of the glass itself and very durable against mechanical, thermal and chemical
degradation.

Seven years of outdoor environmental test without any noticeably degradation guarantee a long life stability.
