Design and statics of glass panes with various support conditions and under various types of loading is a daily standard problem in the engineering practice, for what the finite element method is used. If laminated glass, point supported glass panes or insulating glass units shall be analysed using conventional finite element techniques the effort increases drastically. In particular the numerical simulation of impact bodies is difficult to consider using conventional finite element methods.
Therefore a new finite element approach is presented in this paper, developed especially for the glass engineering practice.
