Window Glass Damage in the Fort Worth Tornado

On Tuesday, March 28, 2000, an F1/F2 tornado passed through downtown Fort Worth, Texas, USA, causing approximately $500,000,000 in damage. Removal of fractured glass from damaged high-rise buildings closed portions of the downtown area for over a week. The authors led a team of investigators to Fort Worth to document damage. This paper discusses sources, paths, and impact of debris on a range of buildings from low-rise industrial to high-rise commercial.
