The Quality Crunch – Do We Meet the Consumers' Needs?

High standards in optical quality for automotive glazing are of steadily increasing importance for the
satisfaction of the end customer. Glass manufacturers and automotive industry are therefore working hard on developing meaningful specifications oriented towards the consumer. This paper wants to illuminate the increasing requirements on automotive glazing and at the same time ask the question concerning the need of the final customer. Optical quality in transmission and reflection is highlighted as an example for producing high-level quality products at the physical limits.
