The related issues of energy conservation, global warming and climate change present major challenges to all companies, but to the global glass industry in particular they also offer great opportunities. Glass manufacture is of necessity energy intensive, but our products also offer considerable scope for energy conservation, by reducing energy loss in buildings and heat build up in buildings and vehicles.
The Float Process, invented by Sir Alastair Pilkington and now the world standard for manufacture of high quality flat glass, has improved its energy efficiency by a factor of two since its invention 50 years ago.
