Nanotechnology is a process of designing materials from nanostructures. By varying the form, the composition or the surface properties of nanoparticles, new materials can be performed. Inorganic and organic materials can be combined to yield for example coating materials for glass. It is possible to use these materials for different applications e.g. in sanitary industry or for structural glazing. Depending on the fi eld of application varying demands like mechanical or chemical resistance, like UV-stability or the adhesion of sealants have to be taken in account. Different possibilities of process integration in the factory and also the coating on site on already installed glass offers new options for glass processing.
