Mauri Saksala

The architects prefer using bent glass surfaces to create new shapes for the buildings and interiors. The automotive designers to give new model design in order to achieve a harmonious result. The same applies to designers in appliance industry as well as with e.g. shower cabin, furniture manufactures, among others. Bent glass in various sizes are fulfi lling these needs extremely well.

The possibilities of bent glass in creating a new look are numerous. The trend of using bent and tempered glass is increasing deliveries of special equipment for challenging bending solutions. Cost effectiveness is requiring new technology for bending and tempering, a good example is moldless, zero-tooling systems.

At the same time with more demanding shapes the market is after better quality in optics and repeatability. Especially in short series production every loading can be different in size, thickness, shape, bending radius, among other properties. The symbiosis of heating and bending process controlled by a capable process parameters has an increasing role.
