Past, Present and Future Developments in Automotive Glass Enamels

When looking at the differentiation of a
product in a market it goes without saying that
one should clearly be able to see the differences
between older and more recent product
developments. Lack of such differentiation is,
however, exactly the difficulty with glass enamels
currently being used by the automotive industry.
This paper discusses the role of automotive
glass enamels, what their specific function is, on
what kind of glass they are used, what the
specific requirements of the glass industry are
and how the enamels must be adapted to follow
the futuristic thoughts of car designers and
manufacturers, environmental considerations
and changes in firing methods.
