Screen printing on flat glass covers a very
wide scope of activity from manual printing of a
few glass sheets on hand printing tables all the
way to very sophisticated in-line operations
reaching lengths of a hundred meters to print
tens of thousands of automotive glass sheets for
the world’s car industry.
The lecture will cover a sample of applications
that have become state-of-the art in the
automotive industry for new cars in countries like
Italy, Mexico and Korea and replacement glass in
countries like Kuwait and Nigeria.
The car users are asking the industry for more
custom made models and this is also becoming a
challenge for suppliers of production machinery
to the automotive industry and screen printing is
no exception.
Due to the very different requirements of size,
shape, thickness, etc. of the glass and different
printing paste and ink technology, the screen
printing machinery, dryers, conveyors, etc. are
often also custom made - not only as far as the
mechanical shape of the machinery is concerned,
but also the PLC-systems that must match the
factory layouts and in-line operations.
A closer co-operation between buyers and
vendors at an early stage is becoming more and
more obvious to shorten lead times and get a
better understanding between the parties.
