Differences and advantages of both
mechanical and thermal edge-breaking methods
will be introduced and compared in the aspect
of automotive glass production. Real in-practise
gathered experience of both methods will be
presented. A short review of the history and
evolution of automatisized edge breaking within
the pre-processing lines is also done from the
1980’s until today.
This paper is concentrating to only automotive
glass pre-processing. This means concentrating
into glasses in thickness range from 1,6 mm upto
5 mm which are to be seamed or C-edge ground.
