Automotive Glass Parts: Requirements for the Glass Industry

After a short history of glass products for automobile, from early 20th century to today, glass products are organized by functions they fulfill for the car (Vision, noise reduction, thermal comfort, people safety, property security, driving support, aesthetics, etc.)

For each current function requirements expressed by Car makers, Car users, States (or group of states), Standards and other influencers (i.e. insurance company) are described and discussed.
Evaluation of glass, before and after processing, is presented and discussed. Proposals are submitted to improve current standards. Intend of that paper is to provide synthesis of current knowledge and current status of the art.
