Conductive Coatings and Future Requirements in Vehicle Glass Design

Stephan Schreiber

Automotive evolution is ongoing. Technological advance requires prompt development of materials. Alternative fuels and fuel cells to replace current car batteries and engines are close to mass production. Progress in electronics tooffer morecomfortand safety affects glazing, and additional functions demand a wider product range. New printed electric circuits and higher voltage supply will in particular influence conductive coatings for vehicle glass. The author illustrates the status, opportunities, and challenges for these products. Development of coatings must keep pace with overall car and glass development.
