Developments in the Replacement After-market Supply Chain

The maintenance and repair of vehicles after their initial sale has historically been the poor brother of OE, without the glamour and size but this is a very large and complex sector in its own right. Both OEM and component suppliers have witnessed tremendous consolidation and increasing competitive pressures due to excess capacity and competition in largely mature markets; this has led to increased interest and activity in the replacement after-market. Consolidation and supply chain re-organization are likely outcomes.
