Five Years Experience Using prEN1279 Series for Insulating Glazing Units

The MQV mark, a voluntary quality mark for insulating glazing, based on Italian standard UNI 7171, had difficulties in being accepted as a valid quality mark by other European countries. Therefore, it was decided that:
- the certification system should be run by UNI, the officially Notified Italian Body for Standardization and Certification;

- the tests and the Factory Production Control should conform to the new European standard prEN 1279;

- the manufacturer's quality plan should include compulsory prescriptions.

In 1996 UNI became the official Certification Body for the Insulating Glazing Quality Mark, thus giving new impulse to its diffusion.
