Design of Insulating Glass. A Look from the Past to the Future

The basic design of insulating units was
already patented in the last century. However,
insulating glass units were not produced
industrially for architectural use until after World
War II.
This paper covers the basic principles of the
edge design of IG units and changes during the
past 50 years, including the future outlook.
The focus is on sealed insulating glass units
which, today and for the foreseeable future,
represent the state of art.
