One way to manufacture warm-edge IG-units is the hot extrusion of an organic material (Polyisobutylene) as spacer bar between glass panes in IG-units. In comparison to all other warm-edge spacers it is the only technique in which an organic material is applied fully automatically. Therefore the invariability of the chemical formulation in combination with constant application parameters are crucial for a continous, troublefree on-line production.
In order to support the high technical demands also in the final IG-unit, a high quality assurance level is necessary at the sealant manufacturer.
If the organic spacer is the right choice among the various warm-edge techniques on the market for a producer of insulating glass units, needs to be evaluated carefully taking the overall company concept and its production process as well as the market situation into account.
