Curtain Wall Systems Design with an Emphasis on Structural Silicone

This paper will critically review current design methods. The impact of membrane stress on the performances of the structural silicone will be discussed. A new design methodology incorporating strain in the structural silicone will be developed. The need for adequate quality control will also be emphasised. Potential problems with poor mixing and their impact on the performance of the glass panel will be examined critically. Examples of failures due to poor mixing will be discussed.
