Insulating glass unit: comparison of laboratory tests according to EN 1279

Ennio Mognato, Andrea Stevanato, Luca De Riu
Stazione Sperimentale Del Vetro

The aim of this investigation is to assess the test results carried out according to EN 1279-2:2002 on insulating glass units at the SSV laboratories.

The results obtained for samples from the companies which have a consolidated quality system, same system description and where annual sampling is carried out will be compared with the results of initial type testing performed on samples sent by the companies not audited by a third party.

In addition a comparison will be made for the penetration index values found during the long and short ageing tests, in order to assess the representative value of the short test. Finally, some data concerning tests performed on some particular insulating glass units (i.e. with valves and gas) will also be illustrated.
