Modelling Impact on Laminated Architectural Glass

Mr. Boris Vidal

In order to determine the composition of
laminated glass under low velocity impact, a
method has been developed. An analytical model
gives a quick design of the dimensions. A
finite element model describes the contact
impact mode. The behaviour of polyvinyl butyral
(PVB) interlayer set-up by viscoelasticimetry
measurements, is then implemented in the
numerical code. All these models are very close
to the results get by experiment. Thanks to this
method, time will be saved by reducing the
number of tests.
