The main task of artists and designers in contemporary architecture is still the same – to give environments made of glass and concrete some personality; to make the grey corridors of office buildings attractive and evocative, such as with light fluxion, making walls static one moment, and in motion the next. The moving pictures created by a DVD projection on glass walls can add dynamics and attractiveness to an interior. The DVD projection reflects in itself the potential dynamics and interplay of colour of the abstract glass sculpture created for a lobby. The various surfaces on to which the DVD is projected make the visuals more interesting. By transforming sculpture using a projection, space continuously changes – you are never in the same place twice.
How can the state and atmosphere of rooms be changed so that the visitors to such places would be enraptured, and positively transported, into another reality? How could a mood-altering sense of mysticism that runs counter to everyday routine, and new dimensions be brought into play? The walls feature glass surfaces on various levels along with internal dynamic lighting potential – LEDs and fibre optics. Add to these DVD projections. In addition to traditional lobbies, dynamic glass walls add new, intriguing possibilities. And – why not? – parts of the floor could also be involved in the transformations. Glass or glass-like backgrounds coupled with dynamic DVD structures create an ethereal atmosphere. On the walls, it is easy to use white glass as the background in combination with reflective and frosted surfaces. An abstract distribution of surfaces over various levels creates a good, neutral background for metamorphoses that can really captivate viewers. Whether on walls, the floor or within a space, the combination of white or colourless glass with glass rods is a good neutral material for applications involving coloured lights, whether in static or dynamic form.
