On-Line Laser Cutting of the Float Ribbon

A new technology "Laser induced Scoring by Tension" facilitates online Laser cutting. The advantages of laser cutting were clear right from the beginning, but the existing methods had quite narrow limits.

The new invention is to control not only the laser power or laser spot on the glass, but also its timing in a way, that thick glass and/or high cutting speed is no problem. This new knowledge was like a breakthrough: A new age of float ribbon cutting was born! This presentation reports about the advantage of laser cut glass, about laser technology background and the on-line trial results.
