High Performance Glazing Facade Environmental Systems Composition and Technology Solution for Office Building

Highly glazed office buildings are designed by architects to be airy, light and transparent with more access to daylight. Their energy efficiency, however, has become questioned, so the research in the field of glazing façade has to be orientated on the energy, ecology and efficiency, which need to be integrated with various environmental systems.
On one hand, this paper defined the concept and analyze the environmental features of high performance glazing façade; on the other hand, based on the analysis performance specifications and environmental system composition, the paper also concluded and grouped the range of technology solutions into seven categories according insulation, sun protection, daylighting, ventilation, power generation from solar or wind and heating & cooling system though case study method, which will provide an overall views of glazing façade technology solutions for office buildings and will bring helps to sustainable design.
