Light work

This paper will address the idea of craft in glass design in the broadest sense. With reference to the theoretical work of the sociologist Richard Sennett and using a recently completed project from James Carpenter Design Associates, it will explore the notion that the basic sense of ‘crafting’ something: to refine, develop and explore the limits of a concept, is a basic human need, essential for all creative work.
