For quality control on float lines, especially in
the automotive industry, accurate measurement of
optical power and deformation is extremely
important. Usually two detection systems are
necessary to achieve the measurement of
distortion (small drips, lines, etc.) and deformation
(stones, bubbles, etc.).
By applying a new illumination and sensor unit,
an inspection system was developed which is able
to obtain both, the distortion and deformation
together in one unit. The resulting defect is
determined on-line and may be transfered to
subsequent marking or cutting devices.
The combination of a 2- and 4-phase
configuration in the light source allows the
measurement in two directions. Due to its compact
construction, this unit requires only 1 m space in
float direction, saving precious space at the float
line.
