Standardisation in Europe, Good Prospects for Energy Saving and Energy-producing Windows and Facades

Alfons Schneider

The European fenestration market is performing at a high level. The replacement market registers strong growth. Nearly 50% of the windows produced in Europe will be installed in old buildings. But the construction-associated industry, which employs as many as 250,000 people in Europe, is in need of a strong and independent voice to safeguard its interests in the European environment. This was the reason why EuroWindoor, a materials- neutral confederation, was set up by the European trade federations FAECF (aluminium), FEMIB joinery) and EPW (plastics) in 1999. EuroWindoor members represent approximately 50% of the market.
