Thank you very much for inviting me here today. First of all I want to endorse very strongly the comments which have been made earlier this afternoon about the role that glass can and should play in achieving energy savings. In the past, if you put the words glass and energy together in the same sentence it would have been something to do with glass-making being an energy intensive industry. But now there is increasing awareness that high performance glass and glazing have a crucial role to play in improving the energy performance of buildings. Really that is why I am here today, because it seems to me that the glass industry and European legislators share a common objective...
