The main objective of the HVG is to provide services for investigations and measurements in glass plants and to carry out precompetitive cooperative research mostly in collaboration with university departments. The HVG’s fields of work are: emission measurements according to § 26/28 BImSchG, eco evaluations, periscope investigations in glass furnaces, development of redox control sensors for the glass melting process, research projects in the fields of manufacturing and properties of glass, publication of reports, advanced training courses and colloquia.
